Development Associate, Scholarship Society and Midlevel Giving

Job Summary:  

Don Bosco Cristo Rey seeks a positive, collaborative, mission-driven Development Associate to support the fundraising efforts of Don Bosco Cristo Rey.  The Development Associate will oversee the coordination and execution of Don Bosco Cristo Rey’s Scholarship Society, staff the Don Bosco auxiliary board, and carry a portfolio of annual fund donors ($1,000-$5,000).  S/he will manage and execute, in coordination with the Director of Development, comprehensive giving strategies that effectively cultivate, solicit, and steward new and existing individuals through multiple individual outreach and direct response channels. S/he will work closely with the Director of Development on engagement with existing and new donors and other duties and special projects as assigned.  

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive annual workplan including prospecting, cultivation, solicitations (mail and email), and stewardship.  
  • Maintain a donor portfolio   
  • Create and implement the four-year scholarship program stewardship plan – including events, regular communications, and impact reports. Manage the renewal process. Serve as the point person for the Scholarship Society.  
  • Oversee and execute the high-quality stewardship process for $1-$5,000 donors, portfolio and all scholarship society donors – including the high touch events, student led tours, student phone calls, student thank you activities, etc. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues on projects, including, but not limited to the annual fundraiser, benchmarking, and other new initiatives.   
  • Staff the Auxiliary Board. Benchmark best practices, implement a plan and work with donor volunteers  
  • Attend Development-related events and activities as needed  
  • Other duties as assigned 
  • Maintain accurate donor information, recommending improvements and new advancement functions to streamline processes and maximize use of the database system.   
  • Maintain current documentation of database policies, procedures, and standards for data entry, data mining, report generation, gift processing and donor tracking.   
  • Develop and promote use of databases and provide reports tracking and monitoring prospect activities.   Provide staff training and ensure maintenance of quality standards for data entry, data manipulation, email marketing, event registration, newsletters and report generation.   
  • Ensure accurate reconciliation of all revenue with the Business Office.   
  • Perform gift processing, including pledge processing, managing gift agreements, reminders, and acknowledgments.   

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s Degree 
  • Self-starter, great attention to detail, positive attitude, desire to grow programs 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with a team to advance shared strategy 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Openness to feedback and to using feedback to inform his/her professional practice. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 
  • Sensitivity to diverse ethnic, racial, and religious backgrounds of the student body 
  • Respect for, Catholic faith, beliefs, and practice 
  • Commitment to the mission of DBCR as a college-preparatory school 
  • Desire to work as part of a team, friendliness, a sense of humor, and willingness to help 
  • when needed  
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously 

Preferred 

  • Record of accomplishment of successfully building and maintaining strong donor relationships 
  • Successful record of meeting or exceeding fundraising goals 
  • Knowledge of Washington, DC philanthropic and corporate communities 
  • Experience planning and executing communications  
  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM database is highly preferred 
  • Experience with Wealth Engine
